A Prayer for More Violence

This is a special prayer I have written for those who believe in a “divine plan”; think that God lives in a mansion above a flat earth; love to say “God bless America” and “We send our thoughts and prayers” after horrendous mass killings; call themselves evangelicals; and love what’s happening under this administration:

O God of Great Violence, we thank you for making us such a violent country. Your presence seems to be around every corner.

We find you shining forth from our television screens day and night. No matter how hard we try to find a nice station, you have designed the programming so we are constantly confronted with murder, rape, and death.

You manifest in many of the games our children play, in movies, on the internet, and in the media so we can be bullied, read sick manifestos, say awful things anonymously, and spread unbelievable hate 24/7.

We can’t thank you enough for the National Rifle Association (NRA), whose message of buying bigger, better, more destructive weapons resounds across this violent nation, resulting in multiple violent murders every day. We are most appreciative of the members of the church of the NRA, who love their guns more than people.

We are ever so thankful for our police departments with their little armies who seem to concentrate on killing people whose worst crime is the color of their skin. We are so pleased that so many of our police officers are ambassadors of racism, bigotry, and hatred.

We are so proud of our vice president, who wants to destroy anyone whose sexual orientation is different from his. He even supports groups that call for jailing and maybe executing gays. He’s our hero!

We are most thankful for our congressmembers, especially Mitch McConnell, who work so hard to protect our divinely appointed NRA and don’t care who gets murdered as long as they receive their NRA paycheck. They are a true inspiration to the world.

Above all, we are grateful that you divinely appointed as president a man who exudes racism, sexism, hate, and deceit. He is our moral compass and, as a draft dodger, the leader of our military.

None of this could have happened without your cults hiding behind the skirts of Jesus, worshiping violence, and chanting hateful slogans against anyone who disagrees with them.

All this we pray in the name of NoOneUpThere, who loves all this violence and the purveyors of such.

Amen, and so be it.

It’s amazing how violent, divisive, and despised this country has become in just three years. Can you imagine what four more years of this will do?

I can!
