I Need a Break

Two weeks ago, I was diagnosed with lung cancer. Fortunately, we appear to have caught it early, and it doesn’t seem to have metastasized so far.

But I need time to treat the cancer. At some point in the near future, the surgeons will operate and remove the cancerous portions of my left lung. Then I need to heal and perhaps receive some radiation treatment.

I feel that for now, the best course of action is to devote my time and attention to putting this illness behind me.

Thank you for being faithful readers.

Peace, love, joy, and hope,

Bil

    • Many thanks Howard for your supportive emails and words. A priest once suggested to me that 90% of healing goes on in one’s head. With all the wonderful messages we have received from our church family and today with Lorraine Fox delivering my prayer shawl, I feel so positive and thankful that we are part of the IUCC family.

  1. My prayer is that you have the best doctors and nurses to care for you, that you heal and are well soon and that you know we all love you and your Annie.

  4. Thank you Bil, for all that you have done for others during your lifetime. I look forward to your return and your teachings of Agape. For now, take care of yourself and rest up. I hope Annie can find some of that fruit jelly to speed your healing.

    • Thanks for saying it out loud Penny but simply another bump in the road of life, not to deter us from living life to the fullest.

  7. Oh damn! What a lousy piece of news! And, so much for being the poster boy for health & fitness! Well, having said that, I suspect this is when that healthy living will pay off. Surely the fine way you’ve treated your body and mind will make this next phase easier. Sending you and Annie much love, my dear friends. Please keep us updated. XOXO

  8. Dear Bill!
I was saddened to get the news of your illness, and that you have had to give up your weekly writing for awhile. Be assured that you and your family will be in my thoughts during this frightening and painful time. As a family, we know the pain of having walked with our eldest daughter for five years through the same experience. It takes a toll on family life. I have greatly appreciated your weekly message, and as a Retired minister, I have greatly admired your courage in saying what John Pavlovitz calls “Stuff that needs to be said” . as you often say “Peace, Love, Joy and Hope”. • Many thanks, Ken for your supportive email. Thots like yours are so important in the healing process and above all, I appreciate your encouraging words about my writings. My underlying motive is to have the church change rather than die. The changes I have suggested have brought me so much closer to my Christ, Jesus, than trying to wade thru the antiquated theology of the past. Stay safe. PeaceLoveJoyHope
