Here’s a sad story that started with a snowstorm in Big Bear, California, which is a ski resort where Annie and I spend six weeks skiing every year. A young Asian woman was driving up the snow-covered highway on her way to an Airbnb, looking forward to a great ski weekend, when she received a text message from the owner. The owner stated she did not rent to Asians, and then texted, “This is why we have Trump.”
Unbelievable! Is that why we have Trump?
Maybe it is believable, judging by my list below.
Almost on a daily basis for the past six months, there seems to be something new that undermines the foundations of this great democracy. I started to make a list of the many actions I’ve observed that fall under the heading “It’s Why We Have Trump!”:
- To support those who have deep prejudices against Muslims, Asians, Mexicans, dreamers, people with an accent, and those who wear different clothing or have different customs.
- To support the thinking of Steve Bannon, who is on the far radical right and ran the alt-right (more conservative than the conservatives) Breitbart News Network, which is considered to be a white nationalist journal.
- To alienate Iran, break the present peace treaty, and give the Iranian government the chance to build its nuclear stockpile. (Do I smell war?)
- To dismantle the Affordable Care Act, leaving twenty-one million “commoners” without health insurance.
- To make sure that any regulation against climate control is eradicated.
- To allow a proliferation of white supremacists who openly flaunt their ideology.
- To open our doors to Russian leadership so it can continue to undermine our democracy and the freedom of other countries.
- To enlarge the already big gap between the rich and the poor.
- To diss our European friends and pull out of NAFTA.
- To make traveling that much more difficult.
- To support the home country of nineteen of the 9/11 terrorists and continue to give it aid even though we know it is presently supporting terrorist causes.
- To allow the Trump businesses to flourish.
- To become a laughing stock for so many other countries.
- To witness the appointment to government agencies of staff who oppose the reason for having such agencies.
- To undermine the words of the Pledge of Allegiance to our already great country: “liberty and justice for all.”
- To change those inspiring words on the Statue of Liberty: “Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free, the wretched refuse of your teeming shore. Send these, the homeless, tempest-tossed to me. I lift my lamp beside the golden door” to “Give me your English-speaking, wealthy, Christian fundamentalist, heterosexual, mostly white masses, and I’ll let them in very quickly.”
There are probably more It’s why we have Trump-isms. Maybe you can add some.
As a Marine Corps veteran (Korea), I find it painful to watch so many people undermine the foundation stones of this great democracy.
Maybe I have it all wrong, and you feel that the above actions are good for our country.

You neglected to mention that he gropes women and also that he walked in un- announced into the dressing room where the Miss Universe candidates were in the process of dressing and in all stages of nudity.
Love it all! I come from Perth, Western Australia, and it’s currently just after midnight 23 September (goodness only knows what will happen overnight). The news this evening was alarming with Kim Jong-un threatening Trump with military action (and vice versa), and possibly more DRNK missile tests. Don’t either of these psychopaths have any compassion or empathy for the little people who serve them? It seems the enmity is equally on both sides and may the biggest bully win! (Unofficially, we figured in Australia it was only a matter of time before Trump engaged in warfare)
WE can sink our teeth into this blog. Hopefully we see some action.
I pray that these Trumpisms and more serve to benefit mankind by giving us the motivation and resolve to stand up and create change by demanding acceptance, affordable health care and housing, justice for all and to practice agape love towards everyone and the earth.
